Adrift - Drifting loose, not on moorings or towline
Aft - Toward the rear of the boat
Anchor - To secure a boat to the bottom
Aweigh - The position of anchor as it is raised clear of the bottom
Bait fish - Small fish often eaten by predators
Batten Down - Secure hatches and loose objects both within the hull and on the deck
Beam- The width at the widest part of the boat
Bilge - The area in the bottom of the boat where seepage collects
Bow- The front of the boat
Buoy- A floating navigation marker
Chine - The part of the hull where the sides meet the bottom
Cleat - A two-horned fitting for securing lines to the boat
Cockpit - The area of the boat behind the helm
Crank bait - A plug with a lip that causes it to dive
Cuddy - A small shelter cabin in a boat
